Quartz stone is composed of high‑grade quartz sand and polymer materials, making it a dense, non‑porous decorative surface material that offers excellent chemical resistance, scratch resistance, and stain resistance—qualities that meet the demanding requirements of kitchens, particularly cabinet countertops. However, no material remains flawless forever; regular maintenance and care are essential to preserve the beauty and performance of Zhongxun quartz countertops.

1. Routine Maintenance

Under normal circumstances, the countertop can be cleaned simply by wiping it with warm, soapy water.

Polished quartz countertops are dense and non-porous, so no additional surface treatments are needed to prevent liquids such as wine, cooking oil, or coffee from penetrating. In most cases, simply wiping with soapy water is sufficient to keep the surface clean; follow up with a rinse using plain water and dry it with a clean cloth. However, if liquids or food come into contact with the countertop during cooking, they should be cleaned up immediately.

2. Stubborn Stains

Remove any remaining stains with a dry cloth. For spills, food residues, and stubborn stains, use a small knife or a scouring pad to gently scrape them away. Avoid using methylene chloride and any cleaning agents containing alkaline substances.

3. Heat resistance

Although quartz stone is more heat‑resistant than other countertop materials, all countertops can crack due to sudden temperature changes, particularly at the edges. For this very reason, trivets and heat‑resistant mats provide excellent protection against thermal damage.

4. Scratch Resistance

Quartz stone is more scratch‑resistant than other countertop materials. However, you should still avoid letting knives, drill bits, or other sharp objects scrape directly across the surface. Additionally, refrain from cutting or chopping directly on the countertop; always use a cutting board before preparing food.

5. Routine Maintenance

  • Avoid using cleaning agents that contain bleach or abrasives.

  • Avoid detergents containing rosin oil, as they can leave residues. Rosin oil tends to attract and trap surface dust, ultimately compromising the cleanliness of the surface.

  • Avoid highly irritating cleaning agents, such as oven cleaners, grill cleaners, and highly alkaline dishwashing detergents and polish.

  • Avoid any cleaning products or abrasives that contain soft or hard abrasive particles.

  • Avoid cleaning agents containing xylene, toluene, potassium hydroxide, or caustic soda.

  • Avoid cleaning agents that contain methylene chloride or trichloroethane.

6. Maintenance Precautions

  • During everyday use, countertops inevitably become stained and soiled by grease, coffee, wine, vinegar, sugar, salt, and other residues. For such spills, simply wipe the surface with warm water mixed with soapy water or a mild dish detergent; for stubborn stains, use an abrasive scouring pad to remove them.

  • If ink stains get on a quartz countertop, first wipe the surface with a damp cloth, then gently rub it with an eraser. If any marks remain, prepare a paste by mixing laundry detergent and water at a ratio of 1:0.5—this mixture will be fairly thick and provide gentle abrasion. Let the paste sit on the countertop for about 5 minutes, then scrub lightly with a small brush. Finally, rinse thoroughly with clean water.

  • Most types of damage, including severe damage, burns, or chemical stains, can be repaired on-site to restore the surface to its original smooth, clean condition. Additionally, avoid leaving a dirty, damp cloth in the same spot on the countertop for extended periods to prevent discoloration.
